10 Hilarious Happenings in the Life of a Working Mum

Wow!
Is tomorrow holiday?

This is the first reaction of none other than a working mum on hearing an unexpected, non gazetted holiday. Working Offs are the blessings for the mums who are on their heels all week round whether they used to work from home or supporting the family by some 9 to 5 job. In both cases the major load of work share falls on the weak shoulders of a mum.

Here are some funny peeps from the the life of a working mum.

Forgetful Mama:
Mornings are the most energy testing time for the family when everyone is running to get ready to reach their workplace on time. Mums who drive to their workplace themselves, often forget to put the mobile(or some other important thing.....) in their bag and reaching the midway they got to remember that  Oh ! My mobile was on the table. Now they rush back to the home, tic tacking with high heels, nearly falling to grasp the phone with an extended hand and than again racing to the car to get back to work.

Taking Selfies:
Yeah! you enjoy having selfies not only alone but with your children around, on your shoulder, pulling your cloths. Kids get tired of saying "cheese" for capturing the perfect moment but you go on. then you share the most random pic within your social circle and add a feather to your family pic scene. Don't care if it appears upside down.

Weight Watching:
Mums especially those working in corporate environment are obsessed with their looks and weight but on every holiday, believe me, every day off, they plan to dine out with the family forgetting the sweaty run on the tread mill last week. Go on Mama.

Kids Attack:
As soon a mum stepped into the home, before getting hugs and kisses, her bag is attacked by the kids vigorously searched  for any type of goodies, leftover sweets. Don't forget to buy a handful of smarties on the way home to catch the unexpected grin of your sweetie pie.

Sleep Dilemma:
Every mum must have experienced this that as soon as they are about to fall in deep sleep, the baby starts crying in high pitch voice giving you goose bumps. Now the next morning you woke up with the heavy eyes, half closed, rush to the kitchen for the mistake of  bathroom and suddenly realized this before its too late.

My Bag , My Treasure:
Most working mums like me never allow anybody to sneak peep into my hand bag as it is full of baby accessories like Bibs, Diapers, ready made Food etc. Most of the time it is turned into a heavy balloon and needs a man's space to sit, gaining people's stares.

Missing the Right Pair:
Whenever you see a woman with wrong pair of shoes or socks, don't laugh. It is reliable proof of being a working mum. You should rather run to greet her and acknowledge her effort.

Eating Disorder:
Whenever a mom gets the golden opportunity to sit down peacefully for the lunch, the kid screams to have to go for the potty. There you go, getting up half way from the lunch as you have to accompany your sweetie pie to the toilet and wait for another 10 minutes while the food on the table simply gets cold.

Day out:
Till late night, you planned to have a great weekend spending time with your kids visiting the local park which had a grand opening just a month ago, when you informed this to your kids, they get excited too and eagerly waiting for that day.But as soon as the day arrived, the weather go bad ruining all your plans. You just end up staring from the window with the kids around.

Editor at Home:
If you are a WAHM(working at home mom) you get this rare moment to catch a glimpse of your blog post, a kid appears from nowhere (read under the bed) on start clicking the keyboard with all fingers and you get this s;';.,,apsdm...mmmmmmmmm.';;0998766&^^%$%
Don't dare to stop him otherwise you are responsible for the consequences.

Do set goals, make plans. Work hard to make your dreams come true, but don't be stubborn, have a loose grip on them.
Trust that life will carry you to your true path, cherish those little moments of joy as these golden moments of seeing your kids grow will soon become your cherished memories.

10 Things for Moms if your kid has fever

Do you remember when a month passed and your kid has remain fever free? How often you visited the doctor in a month ?

As the weather transition is taking place, cold and flu season is upon us to test our kids immunity. As a mother when my kid is knock down with fever I often used to call my mother in the first instance (before calling a doctor) for her time tested advice. Her instant reply:
"What! Again she has fever?"
As she must be tired of listening to my similar questions, but amazingly she gives me some superb relevant tips which prevent the situation from getting worse along with lot of duas (supplications).

There are some of the few tips which I want to share with you:

1. Hydration

High fever usually sucks the child's body fluids leading to dehydration.First of all increase the fluid intake, there are a lot of choices available other than simple plain water. It could be in the form of soups, green tea, juices etc. They all replenish the water loss and also soothens the mucos lining of the throat providing comfort to the kid.

2. Keep Close

This is the one and the only point which my mother used to emphasize every time. As the kid is quite irritable at that moment and usually asks for things which he\ she never ever given an eye for, the need of the time is to remain calm and shower him with more hugs, and encouraging kisses as it works wonders in the path of healing. Reassure you kid time and again.Massaging the sclap and combing her hair with your fingers are also relieving.

3. Read

As no kid want to lay straight on the bed, make it fun by reading one of the favorite book he\ she always want to listen. In my case I often pick up the book with some interesting and funny facts and enjoyed to read it aloud with her.

4. Sleep

Rest is essential as it prompts the process the healing,as the kid has lost his appetite and sleep as well. We should assist to make the nap time as comfortable as possible. Don't forget to let the fresh air in(not cold) to ventilate the room.

5. Spiritual Healing:

Spiritual ways of healing are very effective and tested in various ailments. Whether its a Sadqa (chaity) or Dum ( recitation of words followed by blowing on the afflicted individual) of  Al Fatiha or any dua from the heart.. Develop a connection to the Almighty and you will be astonished to see the results.

6. Nebulize / Steam:

If the child has fever due to nasal blockage\ congestion as it is common in this season, nebulizing with the simple plain water (normal saline to be accurate) works wonders in reliving the symptoms if done consistently. But the real problem is to make the kid sit and have the mask on for at least 10 minutes which is also a test for parents.

7. Dress Up:

Dressing in layers are quite effective in managing the temperature tantrums. Make the kid feel good by attiring in a simple, breathable, light weight clothes as it boost the sense of well being.

8. Soft Bland Diet:

Avoid greasy and spicy food as it will irritate the throat causing the bout of cough eventually leading to vomiting. Soft bland diet like plain curry, pudding, suji kheer(milk dessert), oats are easy to be gulped without much effort.

9. Medicine

Seek the support of the doctor anytime when you have concerns and follow the advice strictly as the fever in children is no fun.Once the cause is treated, the temperature itself returns to normal.

10. Sponging

A lukewarm bath or wash cloth may temporary cool the child but avoid the chilled water sponging as it may cause shivering ultimately raising the temperature.

Newborns and infants should be taken special care. They should be evaluated by the pediatrician as soon as possible.

Reassure your kid often as mother's lap is the safest place on earth.

Mommy's Share: The most Amusing moment in my Life

Asalamoalikum\Good Morning:
It was like a dream come true when finally the moment arrived when my hubby gets the vacations so that we can take the new addition in our family(the baby girl) to meet my beloved mother residing at the distant town.

Flowers

I was very much excited because I was confined to home as i cant climb the stairs frequently due to the 2nd floor residence of mine. As every mother knows which thing on Earth, the newbie doesn't need(apart from yourself). From napkins to creams, formulas to water bottles etc.
I, at last, manage,to leave the home with all the accessories and necessaries. I was carrying the large Hand  bag on one shoulder balancing it with the baby on  the other. My hubby is taking care of the older kid.
It was a very long journey so we opt to go by the car as we can make as many stopovers as we need so that we can feed both(ourselves and the baby) and do the rest of it (you know). As always happen to the new moms there is something important missing. In our case it is the second Feeding Bottle. So after every feed I have to toil to wash the the bottle with our Drinking Water. To avoid the stern looks of my hubby, I tried to wash it secretly as he will definitely dislike the scene of washing the baby stuff with drinking water. Thanks! the rest of the journey gone unnoticeable.
I was awestruck when I got to know the preparations going on at my mommy's home when I called her reaching the nearby place. As a ring the door bell, the whole family  was gathered to welcome us and the new comer.. As soon as I step into the house the snap mania begins to capture each and every moment. Me and mommy hugged long only interrupted by the cries of the lil one as she is once again having hunger pangs.
Now after excusing them, I got to feed the newborn for which I hurried. After the feeding, the Photos are there to make the life still. my brother is very much into this, he requested me to take a series of snaps by lying the baby lie over me as he will send this to some Baby Magazine. I obliged instantly. I have no idea that it will become an instant hit. As the baby lean over me to be photographed, she instantly burps. All the regurgitated milk went straight into the my mouth distorting my facial expressions to the weirdest.
Oh My God! This snap has made history. After watching this the whole family roar into the laughter. As my lil one seems to enjoy the the situation, it also kept me amused for the weeks to come.

Mommy's Dream: An Unforgettable Journey

Asalamoalikum/Good Morning

Baby
There was fun & excitement in the air. Everybody was gay and happy as we were going to experience our first ever journey of the train with our very dear kids. We & kids have made lot of plans for the journey as we want to enjoy every bit of this, like Playing board games and catching Views of the amazing world outside the window.

It was like a dream come true, actually our beloved aunt who lives in a distant city, has been inviting us for long to her place but due to the busy schedules we are unable to join.So after we all decided to catch the train early in the morning.

The day before the departure was a very busy day. I and hubby were busy packing up our things to avoid last minute baste. I, additionally have to kept the kids accessories, trying to put them in every nook & corner of the luggage. As we cant afford to carry  heavy  bags because our kids are quite enough to be looked after rather than carrying of the luggage. After a hefty day collecting, packing and keeping things in the bag we are about to lie down on our bed at night.
Then what happened  which we dreaded the most
'Oh My God' the little one got up. Now another night with full of happenings awaits us. As soon we put her to sleep she gets up after a while. After any one of us leave our bed to comfort her. this stand up lie down cycle continue the whole night. We can see our dream of wonderful journey going down the drain. We turned off the alarm and wake up other kids to get for the station, this is another courageous story to be told later.
Baby's Day Out

After collecting our energies, we rush to the station half drowsy half awake. Thanks God, we board on the right train and instantly fell on sleep after getting the seats. We remain in the sweet dreams the whole journey only to be woken up by the neighboring passenger on the train when the destination arrived.

Mommy's Scare: The most Frightening moment in my Life

Asalamoalikum/Good Morning
Adorable Kid

There was great excitement in the air. Everybody seems to be in a gay and happy mood but the one who is the center of attraction seems to be little confused, little apprehensive and gloomy. Although she has quite a reputation in the entire family but obviously this was the first time she has to be all alone  entering a new phase of life. Everybody was showering their blessings and best wishes.
You must be wondering , this all is the preparation of some high profile celebration. No, No! To everybody's surprise, it is the night before my sweetie's first day at school.
As a final touch , I once again look at the bag and other accessories. The Pencil box, in particular, as this was the favorite item of her which has been brought after a long bazaar searching mission.
Finally in the morning, everybody gets up early to boost her morale as she still seems a little reluctant to attend the very first day at school.

First Day Of School

A great sense of relief was felt after dropping her at school with lots of kisses and good byes.
But this comfort does not seem to lasts longer. On returning she was not very happy. When enquired about her day at school she burst into tears. I instantly gave up to dig in the things and surprised her with her favourite food which makes her settled a bit.
But as soon as I opened the school bag, I am about to loose my mind. My, My ! There was not a single thing left undivided.
The Pencils were sharpened till the last bit, Crayons and other colors were halved into two and the books missing. It seems she must be in some fighting session rather than school.
As this all is shooting my aldosterone levels to the highest but thanks to my yoga classes which taught me how to better control yourself. I, keeping my patience level high, just asked what had happened?
She with a mischievous smile uttered in a completely impartial tone "Nothing".
This answer make me realize that I should be the one who should be frightened from the school rather than she ?
What's your point? Kindly Share.

Is moon still chasing?

Asalamoalikum/Good Evening

As i went out yesterday, I  glanced at the sky where the moon is in full bloom.

Immediately it took me to visit my memory lane, when, i,  as a child, riding in a car,  was fascinated  by the scene that the moon keeps following  me wherever  I go.If my car took  a turn or vroom around,  the moon seems to be with me.
Everything,  whether, trees,  houses, lights, flying past in the opposite  direction,  moon is still chasing me.
Scientifically speaking it is an optical illusion. There are a few reasons to it.

  • Moon is a at a long distance from earth. It is so far away that it always  remain in our field of vision. The things which are at great distances remain in our field of vision.
  • Moon is a huge heavenly body .If a man stands out there, he needs to be looked at with a highly powerful telescope but its still visible.
Whatever be the reason, I,  myself  don't want to indulge in any.The view is quite spectacular and cherished  in my memories forever.
Its an experience  which, some, don't find interesting,  but I am,  as many of us, is still fascinated by it.

Still whenever on a car outside, I, inadvertently, look up to see if still the moon is chasing me or not.?Isn't  it with most of us? Kindly share your thoughts on this!!!
